Is the cord plugged in? This may seem like it is a silly question, but we have been hired for jobs that this was the issue. For some reason, it was unplugged. it’s possible a kid did it, or an electrician during a project. Whatever the cause might be, be sure the refrigerator is plugged in.

Look at the thermostat inside. This is a very typical problem for families with children in the home. So, check that the thermostat temperature isn’t the cause of the warm fridge.

Be sure the vents inside of the freezer aren’t blocked with boxes or food. This is common since frozen veggies get stuck in the back of the freezer. There might be food in the back of a freezer that has long been forgotten.

Check that the condenser cooling fan is clean and clear of debris. To do this, unplug the refrigerator and slide it away from the kitchen wall. The fan for several models is just at the bottom of the appliance or in the back of the freezer portion. Often times, people don’t think to clean this section of the appliance. But, it is very important to keep it clean. And, it builds up with fuzz and dust quickly, especially in houses that have pets. So, get a clean rag and get the dust out of the refrigerator coils and fan.

This is not a suggestion for refrigerators that have a back coil system. Once all clean, plug it into the wall and monitor if the cooling fan moves.
